Story Time & Early Literacy

Story time is a positive experience you can share with your little one and is one of the most important aspects of early literacy. When you read aloud to your child, there are so many things happening.Your child’s listening/language skills are blossoming, his vocabulary is growing, and his imagination is soaring (just to name a few).

It is so important to introduce our children to an array of rich, age appropriate books, in order to foster a love of reading deep within them. A love that will continue to grow and thrive as they develop into lifelong readers/writers. Who knows, you may just have a future New York Time’s bestselling author on your hands!

I love connecting literacy to the crafts and activities we do, but I don’t always have #theperfectbook. So what’s a girl to do!? #librarytrip We’re still building our book collection, so the library has been our go-to for different holidays/themes. And bonus! the amazing librarians usually display the holiday/themed books all in one spot, which makes it super easy to find what you’re looking for. This is such an easy way to explore new authors and titles, and then you can add a few of your favorites to a wish list later on. Watch clearance shelves after the holidays too!

So what’s the take away from all of this? Our bookshelf is *always* a party waiting to happen! We rotate our books based on the month/theme so there’s always something new & exciting to display and to read. So grab a book, cozy up, and get lost in the world of early literacy.
